Preliminary results of studies on factors reducing populations of primary pests of pine in the winter season
Abstract
The aim of this study was to determine mortality of wintering stages of Panolis flammea, Hyloicus pinastri, Bupalus piniaria, Acantholyda posticalis and Diprion spp.
The experiment was conducted from December 2017 to February 2018 in pine stands of the Puszcza Notecka forest.
It was found that rodents were primarily responsible for the reduction of wintering stages of leaf-feeding pests of pine. Larvae of click beetles (Elateridae) contributed to a 9% reduction of the experimental population, while the wild boar (Sus scrofa) was responsible for a 7% reduction, respectively. It was shown that pupae of the pine noctuid and larvae of great pine web-spinning pine-sawfly were reduced in greatest numbers.
