Silvarum Colendarum Ratio et Industria Lignaria

The purpose of the study was to assess the growth and morphological characteristics of common oak (Quercus robur L.) in experimental plots in the Karczma Borowa Forest District (Regional Directorate of the State Forests in Poznań). The experiment consisted of three experimental areas, where each was divided into 12 experimental plots. Three objects in four replications were planted in each individual plot – with normal habit, abnormal habit, and abnormal habit formed annually. The research was carried out in the early juvenile phase (10 years) and comprised measurements of the height of each tree and the assessment of their crown forms. The obtained results showed statistically significant differences in height and no differences in the assessed qualitative characteristics between the objects, which showed the absence of the influence of crown formation treatments on their improvement and production of trees with the correct habit and single shoot form.
