Introduction. Recreational valorization of stands allows to assess their resources and recreational values, manage forest ecosystem and locate recreational development facilities. The paper presents the valorisation of the Strzeszynek Forest Range located in the urban forests of Poznań (Poland).

Aim of the study. The aim of the study was to assess the recreational potential of presented area.

Methods. The following features were assessed: forest habitat type, the age of dominant species, the diversity of species composition, stocking level, undergrowth, the type of cover, crown closure, landform, and the occurrence of water reservoirs. Each criterion was divided into the following groups of points: 6-high value for recreation; 4-average value; 2-low value; 0-useless feature. The source of data was the current Forest Management Plan for the years 2013-2022.

Results. The results have shown that the Strzeszynek Forest Range has both natural and cultural values which determine its attractiveness and usefulness for recreation. The biggest share have stands moderately suited for recreational purposes (81,02%). The second group in terms of share are stands which have the best features to perform this function (16.95%). The   increase of this share is possible through activities in the field of urban forests management. The share of stands with useless features is negligible (2.03%).

Conclusions. The study area has a strong predisposition to perform the recreational function of forests.
