In 2007, an innovative research station was established in the Tuczno Forest District (Regional Directorate of State Forests in Piła), where the exchange of carbon dioxide (CO2) between the forest ecosystem and the atmosphere is measured. To provide comprehensive data concerning this area many other studies are conducted, e.g. in acarology, which is the main subject of this paper. The main aim of this study was to determine the species composition of the Mesostigmata mites. A total of 270 soil samples were collected from a Scots pine stand aged approx. 60 years. The total number of 2944 Mestostigmata mites were extracted, selected and identified to 50 species. The dominant species were Paragamasus vagabundus (Karg, 1968), Veigaia nemorensis (C. L. Koch, 1836), Paragamasus conus (Karg, 1971) and Trachytes aegrota (C. L. Koch, 1841). The structures of mite groups and their species composition are typical of coniferous (pine) forests in Central and Northern Poland.
