Silvarum Colendarum Ratio et Industria Lignaria

Introduction. The historical park in Potulice was established in the first half of the 19th century. It is one of the five historic parks in the Lipka commune. The park was listed in the register of monuments in 1982 under number A-421. The aim of the work was to prepare an inventory of the most impressive trees, determine their distribution, current dimensions and the health condition when compared to the inventory from 1980.
Material and methods. The research was carried out in the growing season of 2018 and 2019. Circumferences and heights of trees were measured and their health condition was assessed. Their location (GPS) was also established and a map of the distribution of impressive trees was created.
Results. A total of 100 impressive tress were inventoried, of which 37 have monumental circumferences. They belong to 15 species, coming from 14 genera and 9 families. The most common impressive trees were Fraxinus excelsior, Aesculus hippocastanum, Acer platanoides and Carpinus betulus.
Conclusions. Thanks to regular tending interventions the health condition of a majority (77%) of trees is good (1) and very good (0). Currently the park condition is moderate. The hornbeam alleys, glades, ponds and very valuable old trees have been preserved.
