CONFIRMATION OF THE OCCURENCE OF THE FAUNA OF OXYPORUS MANNERHEIMII GYLL., 1827 (COLEOPTERA: STAPHYLINIDAE) IN KNYSZYN FOREST

Abstract

Oxyporus mannerheimii is the rarest of three species from the Oxyporus genus in Poland. Both adult and larvae feed on the tissues of mushrooms. In Poland, O. mannerheimii is known only from 4 sites: the Białowieża Primeval Forest, the Knyszyn Forest, the Starachowice Forest District and the Lublin Upland. The species leads a secretive life and has a fairly short appearance of imagines. During the research conducted in 2020 in the Jesionowe Góry reserve in the  Knyszyn Forest presence of Oxyporus mannerheimii has been confirmed. In the Jesionowe Góry reserve 3 imagines of Oxyporus mannerheimii were found in fruiting bodies of Pleurotus spp. Fungi.
